다이어 스트레이츠가 85년 발표한 [Brothers In Arms]에 수록된 "Why Worry"는
따뜻한 가사와 감미로운 멜로디로 80년대 후반 국내에서 커다란 인기를 얻었던 곡이다.
 
마크 노플러(Mark Knopfler)라는 걸출한 기타리스트이자
싱어 송라이터가 이끄는 영국의 국민밴드 다이어 스트레이츠(Dire Straits)는
이 앨범으로 미국 차트정상에 9주간이나 머무는 기염을 토했다.

 

기억을 거슬러 올라가보면 지금에서야 유치한 수준이지만 당시로서는

최첨단의 획기적인 기술이었던 "Money For Noghting"의 컴퓨터 그래픽을

활용한 뮤직비디오도 떠오른다.

[브룩클린으로 가는 마지막 비상구(Last Exit To Brooklyn)],

[로컬 히어로(The Local Hero)] 등의 사운드트랙에서도 빛났던

마크 노플러의 송라이팅 능력을 어쿠스틱 기타에 실은 "Why Worry"의

간결한 멜로디로 다시 확인할 수 있다.
